BREAKING THE SILENCE
INTERGENERATIONAL & INTERCULTURAL HEALING
Our workshops provide a virtually safe and healing space for Asian, Asian-American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women.
Please join us to explore emotions, thoughts, and experiences of AAPI women. The purpose of this workshop is to connect with our inner truth and express our authentic voices through play, story, and reflection.

Memoir Writing Unfolding Women's Voices Across Generations
“Be quiet.”
“Don’t speak up.”
“Don’t be different.”
“Don’t be difficult.”
These are some of the spoken and unspoken messages I have received from my family, society, and culture while I was growing up in South Korea. Through my own healing journey, I was able to see how those voices still lived inside of me and continue to play an important role in my personal, professional, and social interactions. I see many of us—Asian, Asian-American, and Pacific Islander women—struggling to break to speak up about our needs, rights, and experiences. At a time of increasing violence and hate crimes against our communities, it feels more important to break our silence. I invite you to join me to explore those hidden messages that silence us and keep us from sharing our stories. Together, we will create a safe space to feel heard, understood, and connected with other AAPI women. It will be safe and restorative, with time for reflection and exploration.

“I really appreciated the hidden messages and role playing exercise.”
“Identity activity was useful to get me to start talking about my Asian identity, I hadn't thought about my ambivalence even embarrassment around not-being-Asian-enough in a while.…”
“I also thought it was useful to do the role plays around voices that silence or encourage us…I found it useful to co-experience the courageousness I was witnessing; it helped me to feel more courageous myself.”
“Thank you so much for the workshop! I enjoyed participating and would be interested in joining another similar workshop. I think it takes more than one workshop to start working on these issues and I'd like to continue this work.”
